Flanders was a lovely book that made me realize how much of a lost art letter-writing has become with the advent of e-mail, instant messaging, and tweets of characters or less.

The book is told through a series of letters Travis Lee Stanhope writes to his younger brother Boby/5. Moll Flanders is the story of a very resourceful woman whom despite being born destitute with no parents in Newgate Prison uses all of her street smarts, and wits to ensure she does not lead a life of poverty.

Timothy Flanders from Meaning of Catholic has written a great book for the Catholic faithful. He shows us that being a true theologian doesn't mean having degrees and a chair at a University. Being a theologian is looking at Scripture within the tradition of the church and most of all with humility/5(26).

Most books from the time period are so hung up on virtue, but "Moll Flanders" is a depiction of what was most likely the reality of the times. Moll Flanders is born to a mother who has been convicted of a felony and who is transported to America soon after her birth. As an infant, Moll lives on public charity, under the care of a kind widow who teaches her manners and needlework.

She grows into a beautiful teenager and is seduced at an early age. Her first book was published in as Donna Ball, since them she has written over a dozen works of commercial fiction under her name and under diferent pseudonyms: Rebecca Flanders, Donna Carlisle and Donna Boyd.

E.M. Forster called the book "a masterpiece of characterization," and it is a testimony to the psychological nuance of her character, as well as to its liveliness, that we like Moll more than we censure her.
